Malta - 2022

This trip is only for applicants 21 and up. Your trip will be in the beautiful country of Malta! Malta is a small island in the geographic center of the Mediterranean Sea. Out of proportion with its size, Malta has figured heavily in world history. A Bible country, the account of the Apostle Paul’s shipwreck in Acts 27-28 took place here in about 60 A.D. In 1565, a huge military battle between the Muslim forces of the Ottoman Turks and the Knights of Malta Crusaders took place. In WWII, Malta was the most bombed place on Earth, per square mile, before the nuclear attack on Hiroshima. Malta is a quaint mixture of the medieval and the modern. Strong traditions of Roman-based faith converge with modern ideas. Malta is affluent with a good economy. The people are Mediterranean; food and good times are accentuated, and the locals are very keen on knowing about your country. The UPCI Church Work began as a pioneering effort, and it is blessed by the Lord. You will see where Paul was shipwrecked. You will visit the smaller, second Island of Gozo. Some of the most beautiful, unspoiled beaches you will ever see are in Malta and Gozo.

Michael & DeAnna Thomas

Michael & DeAnna Thomas joined the UPCI Youth Ministries team in January of 2018. Before joining the team, Michael lived in Gadsden, Alabama where he served on staff at Church on the Rock as assistant pastor and youth pastor. Michael has been involved in youth ministry on the local and district level for over sixteen years. His youth ministry experience includes serving as youth pastor, sectional director, district youth secretary as well as youth president for Alabama. Michael is privileged to be an ordained minister of the UPCI and is excited to serve this incredible generation of apostolic youth and young adults.
Michael met his beautiful wife at a youth camp and after many years of pursuit convinced her to marry him. Michael and DeAnna have been married for 14 years now and are parents to an eight-year-old, blue-eyed ray of sunshine named Myla Joy. The Thomas family also welcomed a new duo to the family, Jayla Hope and Judah Michael. Michael attended Gateway College of Evangelism/Urshan College and continues his educational pursuits through Hope International University. Michael enjoys running, kayaking, golfing and going on adventures

Nate and Ashley Smith serve as an Associate Pastor at New Life Church of Cabot. They help oversee all group ministries, teaching schedules and creative elements. Their passions are people, the kingdom of God and finding good food. They have three boys: Oden, Judah, and Lucas, and wholeheartedly believe the best days of Apostolic youth and young adults are just ahead.
